Dru was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX and upon graduation from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Dru joined AT&T Wireless as a Regional Account Executive managing corporate accounts in the Southwest region. After this, Dru was recruited to join the nation's leading retained healthcare search firm, Merritt Hawkins and Associates, and quickly ascended to a leadership role in the firm's Southwest region. In his first year at the firm, Dru was a Top 5 search practitioner out of a group of over 100 search professionals. During his tenure, Dru was repeatedly asked by one of the Founders of the Company to handle the firm's most difficult and challenging search projects — which Dru was successful in completing over 95% of the time.

After this, Dru was recruited to join Austin McGregor as a Principal. After his first year working with the Founder and Chairman Chip McCreary, Dru was promoted to Partner and subsequently Managing Partner where he executes searches at the Vice President through Chief and Board of Director levels.

Dru focuses primarily in the venture capital and private equity backed high technology and healthcare arena and has executed search from coast to coast in the Software, Services, Wireless, Healthcare IT, Healthcare Administration, Pharma and Internet sectors. Some of his recent venture clients include Morgenthaler Ventures, Leapfrog Ventures, Egan Managed Capital, JMI Equity, Sigma Partners, SunAmerica Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners and leading Hospitals/ Healthcare Systems.

Dru is married with two young children and resides in Dallas.
