Dru was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX and upon graduation from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Dru joined AT&T Wireless as a Regional Account Executive managing corporate accounts in the Southwest region. After this, Dru was recruited to join the nation's leading retained physician search firm, Merritt Hawkins and Associates, and quickly ascended to a leadership role in the firm's Southwest region. In his first year at the firm, Dru was a Top 5 search practitioner out of a group of over 100 search professionals. During his tenure, Dru was repeatedly asked by one of the Founders of the Company to handle the firm's most difficult and challenging search projects – which Dru was successful in completing over 95% of the time.

After this, Dru was recruited to join Austin McGregor as an Associate. After his first year working with Managing Partner Stephen Sterett and Founder Chip McCreary, Dru was promoted to Partner and today executes searches at the Vice President through Chief and Board of Director levels. Dru focuses primarily in the venture capital and private equity backed high technology arena and has executed search from coast to coast in the Hardware, Software, Services, Telecom/Wireless, and Semiconductor sectors. Some of his recent venture clients include Sevin Rosen, Morgenthaler Ventures, Leapfrog Ventures, Austin Ventures, Bluerun Ventures, Inflection Point Ventures, Egan Managed Capital, JMI Equities, and Boston Millennia Partners.

Dru is married with a young son and resides in Highland Park, TX.
